We see our patients
on time
Why is it that doctors expect their patients to
arrive to their appointment on time, yet have no problem making them
wait and wait and wait before they actually take them back? As a
matter of fact, it is not unusual, in some of these offices, to wait
more than an hour, and sometimes longer. Dr. Makhoul feels that this
is rude and plain disrespectful to the patient. Dr. Makhoul insists
on us honoring the appointment time, and
if for some unforeseen reason the wait should be more than ten
minutes, which is rare, we inform our patient of how long the wait
would be, so that he or she is free to wait or reschedule.
We listen and meet
your needs
We realize that different patients have different
wants in a smile or a treatment. One smile design, for example, does
not fit all. It is by active listening to your concerns that we are
able to achieve the results that you expect. The concerns may not
always be about teeth. They may be financial concerns, time
concerns, or fear related, or whatever. Dr. Makhoul is a
great listener, he asks a lot of clarifying
questions, and he restates your wishes to eliminate any chance of
ambiguity. We are never too busy to hear you out.
We
inform before we perform
Dr. Makhoul insists on letting you know
everything, in writing, before we do anything. Of all the complaints
about other offices that we hear from patients, the complaint about
misinforming or sometimes non informing tops the list. So many
patients of those offices tell us how they thought they were having
something done when they went in, and discovered that they had
something different done when they came out. Dr. Makhoul feels that
this is absolutely inexcusable. During the consultation, Dr. Makhoul
explains the treatment, advises you of all the benefits and
alternatives, describes all the steps and the post-op expectations,
and all the logistics pertaining to the treatment. Sometimes, it may
take more than one consultation in order to make sure that all your
questions are answered. Then we give you in writing
the treatment and the fee before we ask for your consent
to treat. This way there is no miscommunication and no surprises.
And at no time do we do anything more without your consent.
We guarantee our
treatment
In addition to his integrity,
Dr. Makhoul's reputation is in his high
quality and gentle touch. Patients can
easily see the caring perfectionist in him
at work. He does not hesitate for example to return a crown to the
lab if it is not perfect , and to point out the imperfection to the
patient, even if it is not noticeable to the patient. That is why
his patients trust him so much and refer
their families and friends to him. As a matter of fact, even
other dentists refer patients to him. Dr. Makhoul
is a perfectionist and stands behind his
work. Fortunately we've never had a failure. However, just for your
peace of mind, we still guarantee our treatment in
writing.

Intra-oral
camera
Dr. Makhoul believes in the show and tell method
of treatment diagnosis. The intra-oral camera is a wonderful way for
you to see on the monitor what Dr. Makhoul sees in your mouth. In
addition, the picture on the monitor is magnified enough for Dr.
Makhoul to detect pathology otherwise undetectable by the naked eye
such as old fillings' corrosion or hairline tooth cracks in its
early stage so it can be treated before it turns into major
complications. In addition, the picture can be printed to take home
to show a spouse or a parent.
Digital X-rays
Dental X-rays have always been perfectly safe
because of the type of radiation used. Unlike medical X-rays,
Dental X-rays are not absorbed by the body. It is said that the
average person gets more radiation in one day from the sun than from
a full set of dental X-rays. And now the safety factor just got even
better. There is almost no radiation associated with digital X-rays.
Like the intra-oral camera, the magnified image is displayed on the
monitor to facilitate co-diagnosis and help detect pathology early
in its inception. In addition, the sensor has rounded corners and is
very comfortable in the mouth.
Insurance
We accept assignment from all insurances except
HMO's. We have many patients who have HMO insurance who choose not
to go to the HMO dentist because they found that the HMO system was
substandard, insulting, and destructive. We have found that most
people care a lot about proper sterilization and painless dentistry,
and prefer to be treated with dignity and respect, so they made us
their dental home. It is our advice, if you are looking for
insurance, not to enroll in an HMO plan. These plans, in our
opinion, are very disappointing to the quality seeking human being.
Dr. Makhoul hopes that someday they'll get their act together, but
doubts it'll be in the near future. So if you have HMO now, try to
talk to your employer to see if you can upgrade. Until then Beware!
Payment plans
with extended 0% interest
Most patients want high quality treatment with no
pain. This is what we define as excellence. Excellence is achieved
by going to the best dentist who employs the best staff and uses the
best materials and works with the best labs and offers the best
service. In order to achieve excellent results, every step of the
way has to be excellent, so there is no room for shortcuts. That's
why excellent dentistry is not cheap but mediocre dentistry is a lot
more expensive because it can ruin your life. Dr. Makhoul feels that
everybody deserves the best, therefore, through treatment phasing
and payment plans, we strive to make excellent treatment
as affordable as possible.
